Does anyone know where I can get topo maps of arizona or trails through the Grand Canyon.?

I am looking for trails in and around the Arizona strip near the Bar 10 Ranch. Which is South of St George, Utah.

USGS Topographical (topo) maps can be purchased through a number of sources:

You can purchase them directly from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) at their website (see links below).

The 'Wide World of Maps' stores in Phoenix, Arizona carry topo maps for the whole state and you might also be able to find them in Flagstaff at either Babbitt's Outdoor Outfitters or Peace Surplus (both downtown).

Note than you can get most of the topo information in digital form for your computer or GPS as well. Probably the best known are those by National Geographic (see website below).

For the Grand Canyon itself, there are many maps available that show the various trails, but most focus on the primary hiking areas of the National Park and would not cover the more remote areas of the AZ Strip. Probably the most common of the canyon hiking maps is the National Geographic Trails Illustrated one (available online through both National Geographic and Wide World of Maps). There is also the giant 'Grand Canyon National Park and Vicinity' wall map (made of several combined topos), but it sticks close to the canyon itself and only goes as far west as Kanab Creek.

Lastly, I would recommend you check out the book 'Living at the Edge: Explorers, Exploiters and Settlers of the Grand Canyon Region" by Michael Anderson. It has good info on North Rim history including a very high level generalized map of the area showing the locations of roads and settlements in the area during the turn of the last century.

Although it does not go into as much detail as the USGS 7.5 maps, another good resource to have is the Arizona Atlas & Gazetteer by Delorme press. Source(s): Arizona resident and frequent Grand Canyon area visitor
