Where can I buy IGN French hiking maps in New York City? |
I am looking for maps from the Institut Geographique National (IGN) of the French Pyrenees region, at the 1:100,000 ratio. I need these maps because they indicate the location of hiking trails, especially the GR10 (sentier de grande randonnee). I'd like to find a place that sells these maps in the New York Metro area. Thank you. the 1.100 000 maps are far from ideal for hiking, spotting the GRs is all you will do with them. The IGN has a set of maps at 1.25000 scale that will do the job far better. You will find them in bookshops, supermarkets, etc... on location. Local shops typically stock the most needed maps of the area. Also, the IGN has started a service a bit like Google maps called Geoportail. http://www.geoportail.fr Unlike Google maps, they show a good resolution on the whole of France and do include hiking trails on map style views. If you're traveling there then just visit the local tourist office they will have maps. You could ask the IGN directly: they will probably know this: http://www.ign.fr |
