Trek makes the WSD (stands for something like womens specific design) versions of their bikes. The smallest roadbikes are 43cm, and the smallest mountainbikes are 13". In addition, a bike such as the trek 3700 comes in a version that is almost like the old step thru frame design of the past. Much easier to stand over. You need to specifically ask for those sizes when you're at the shops.. many times they don't have them in stock so they try you on the smallest thing they have, which won't be small enough. Find a shop that has one to try.

Trek, Giant, specialized and many other bicycle makers produce bikes that fit shorter women well. You may want to check out WSD bikes. Your feet should never touch the groud while seated, you get off the seat to stand with the bike.

find your local Terry dealer. Terry is a line of women's bikes. they are available in smaller sizes with smaller sized bars, stems, cranks and brake/shift levers design to better fit women.
