Is it cool to listen to music while on a street bike?

I like to listen to my ipod while im cruisin on my street bike. Is this right or should i stop for safety issues? Since theres no radio i like to jam.

How does aggressive music affect your driving? The aggressive stuff tends to get me in trouble. But usually when the songs are going they don't get noticed until sitting at a red light- my focus riding is commited to scanning, evaluating, making adjustments, and expecting the situation to change around me.

The answer to that question is really subjective.

Some argue that you're creating a distraction for yourself and eliminating a valuable safety sense (to hear a horn blaring, sirens coming, etc.) Others say music heightens motorcycling experience and makes you focus on the more important sense of sight.

Personally, I ride with ear plugs in to prevent hearing damage from wind noise. At freeway speeds about the only thing I can hear is muffled wind, a car right next to me could honk and I'd barely be able to hear, even without plugs.

Motorcycling is all about managing risk. You have to decide what risk listening to tunes poses for you.

I know people who use the bike mounted radios, or iPod type earsets. The iPod versions are likely illegal.

Still, just as a nice tune can help make a great day better while driving, why shouldn't it while riding?

I say we should be able to do what we wish, as long as we are not harming others. It is highly possible to ride with earsets in and still hear other traffic sounds, probably better than most cagers do. Enjoy your music, if you feel it fits the situation, sometimes I do.

As long as you use speakers mounted on your bike or dont use noise canceling headphones, every thing should be ok. But using external speakers may cause you to be pulled over and fined for public nuisance!!

to each thier own,i prefer the sound of a v-twin & the wind rushing by,if i want to listen to tunes,i'll stay at home

just use one earphone
goodluck
