Santa monica...bike?

so this summer i plan on riding my bike (not on the street but along the path) along the beach starting at the santa monica pier. i want to do it in the early morning (like sunrise) before too many people get there. is there anything i should know about this in general (like safety, weather, people)?

that during the week bike path (which starts at Will Rogers state
beach and eventually ends up in Torrance
the path parrells the Santa Monica and Venice Beach boardwalk to Washington then its turns left becomes a bike line along Washington blvd to just before Oxford the bike trail begins again and it parrells Admiralty way to Fiji then a bike line to Fisherman's Village ,(follow the loop you will soon
see the bike entrance to the trail then following the path
along the breakwater of marina channel, to teh bridge which
will crosses the Ballona Creek and right after the bridge the path starts up again and soon you will pass dockweller beach (look up and you see planes taking off from Lax here)
and so on
(but on the weekend its busier then the 405 during rush home
in the summer!)
just be careful of the sand which sometimes blows across the path
and unfortently you will have company (non -bikers on the bike path as well (joggers, skateboarders rollerblades,etc

The mornings are a bit cool, sometimes overcast. You'll see other early birds and, of course, bums.
