Is a 2005 SUZUKI GS500 an ok size for someone who is 6'4" 200 lbs? |
I'm interested in buying a used street bike and I'm just wondering if it would be a good size for someone of my height. I'm 6'4" 200lbs. The bike I'm looking at is a 2005 Suzuki GS500. Does anyone own one who is of similar size as me? Any suggestions and/or problems experienced? Test ride it and see if it's comfortable. It doesn't have alot of power but it's a great trainer. I always suggest that people should learn to ride before buying a big bike. I ride a ZX-10 and still have fun crawling on my wifes 500 Ninja and running the canyon. Ignore everyone but yourself when it comes to a bike, buy what makes you happy. You know what-- I've heard that's an underpowered bike. You'd prob. be doing yourself a disservice by getting it. At your size I wouldn't go lower than 600 cc. I ride a Suzuki SV 650 and it's got plenty of juice. Those bikes are physically small, I would think leg room would be an issue at 6'4". The SV650 is a taller machine, might be a better fit. I've ridden this bike personally and I think its terrible. I currently ride a FZ6 and that is a great bike. However I won't exactly recommend this bike to a beginner. The GS500 is seriously underpowered and it only has a single disc brake in the front which seriously nerfs the front stopping power. Unless you get this bike real cheap I think you should avoid it. |
