Which motorcycle is better??

Im looking at the Suzuki SV 650 and the Yamaha FZ600. Its a toss up and its also my first street bike. Thanks..

Harley

Look for an older SV or a Suzuki bandit. Both are good bikes and engine swaps are pretty easy if you want more power.

The SV 650 is a great bike... much more versatile than the FZ 600. It has torque (power) from down low, which makes it much easier to ride in traffic and normal highway use.

The FZ 600 has to be kept at relatively high RPM to make power, which makes it more difficult to ride in traffic.

The SV handles great and is easier on tires than the FZ.

I've been riding for over 30 years. I don't own either, but I have ridden both and I find that the SV is so much more fun and easier to ride than the FZ.

Ther Sv is a capable bike and its short frame and tight angles make it a cornering dream, but if you are on the tall side a little cramped, it is often considered (wrongly) a girls bike, as it is suitable for smaller framed people or those not wishing to lug a heavy bike about.
The FZ6 is a great bike but it is not as torquey as the SV twin engine, though the four cylinder engine has the oumph to really get you out of trouble ( or really into it Depending on your ethos) when you crack the throttle back..
I agree that who ever suggested the BANDIT or the Older SV is a better bet they are right..
650 or 600 Bandit is light revvy and has a fair amount of torque and cheeper than the FZ6..

I to would lean toward the SV650 provided you fit the bike. Contact your insurance agent and get a price quote for each bike. That alone may be a deciding factor.
I have heard from SV650/DL650 riders who rack up huge amount of miles. The engines are bullet-proof. Speaking of the DL650, take a look at that model. Lots of features not available on the SV650. The DL650 has available ABS brakes.

they are both good bikes. the sv650 is a
beginner bike. the fz600 is not a beginners
bike.

I would have to see and ride both of them to decide
