Motorcycle fell?

I have a kawasaki zzr and my dog he ran into the bike lol. the bike was on i was warming it up. It fell to the right but i caught it and kept it from slaming on the street. so basically it just fell gently with a minor scratch but everything seems fine. Went to start it and wouldn't start. So i just kept cranking and finally it cranked over and started? Why? was it because it was air bound from being on its side for a second. Other then that should i worry about anything else?

It probably has an electronic ignition in it and they are designed to kill the power after it reaches a certain angle. It sometimes takes a few second to almost a minute to reset the ECM and allow the bike to start.

What year?If carburated it is because fuel had to refill the carbs.Or the fuel pump may have had to recycle itself before starting.Otherwise it's probably an engine safety switch.Either way, no problem.

Tilt switch, called a "bank angle sensor" takes a minute to reset.

When the bike was on it's side the fuel was dumped out of the carburetor. You probably smelled some fuel. It takes a few seconds to re-fill enough for the bike to fire back up. It is common to do this when your bike has been sitting around some time and you want to get rid of the old fuel inside the carburetor. It should be fine after you get it re-started.

the engine that was running got a jerk and when you kicked it it turned back on

It probably has a tilt switch to kill the ignition if the bike is layed over too far.

Prob flooded it with the carbs on their side if its running OK now dont fix it

Check your air cleaner for any oil leakage. Second for knowledge, next time happens, turn ignition switch on and off 5 times to reset the ECM, then start it will be fine.
