Live in NYC (Brooklyn), need ideas for motocycle storage?

Hey everyone I live in east Brooklyn and I'm interested in purchasing a Ninja 250R. I hate public transportation and i cant afford a car in NYC. Unfortunately there are no parking garages for motorcycles in my area, and i live in an apartment building with no elevator so i cant keep the bike in my home. Also from what I've been reading from other riders in NYC parking on the street is a bad idea, plus east Brooklyn isn't exactly the safest area. What should i do?
I hope this isn't a dumb question but i thought i would post it to see if anyone might come up with a suggestion that i didn't consider.

I'm from the BX and I see guys chain their bike to the radiator in the downstairs hallway.
Also you can find somebody to share a storage unit with. I used to keep mine in storage.
