Is my writing good? It is about Lance Armstrong.?

Frenzied people lined the streets of France cheering and hoping for Lance Armstrong to win his last race before retirement. The crowd went wild as Armstrong vivaciously pedaled around the corner in the last lap of the Tour de France. He is determined to win the again this year, fighting back at his testicular cancer. He leans over the front of the bike, and starts pedaling more rapidly. Armstrong, noted as one of the most dedicated and passionate cyclists, raises his arm and wipes the sweat off of his face.
Even with several opponents right behind him, Lance races with a steady, but quick pace, and takes the lead. The fans scream and shout, giving him motivation to take victory of the race.
Banners of blue and white blur his vision as he makes his way to the finish line. Lance throws his arms into the air in honor of all the fans, and the 鈥淪tar Spangled Banner鈥?rings out once again.

Not bad....I dunno about that part where the blue banners blur his vision, though. I know what you're trying to say, but the way it reads makes it sound like the banners are doing something to him. :o)

The first thing your teacher will (or should) notice is that you change tense in the third sentence. (sorry....just assuming you're doing this for school.) You start out the first two sentences in past tense, and then the rest of the story is in present tense. My high school English teacher beat me up a few times over that exact thing.

I'm sorry, but it reads like poorly written, poorly researched, grocery store fiction. How do you know that he is actually "fighting back at his testicular cancer"? I'm pretty sure that Lance had testicular cancer beat about seven years before his final TDF win. A biography should be backed up by citing reliable sources, not speculating as to what a person might have been thinking or feeling.
