Would a 2001 - 2005 Honda CBR 600 f4i be a good first street bike?

I have ridden dirt bikes several times over the years, and i'm interested in purchasing a street bike. From what I have read, the f4i is the more comfortable/practical version of the CBR600 RR. It is simple and easy to drive, but still offers power and handling when you get more experienced. Does anyone have any first hand experience or knowledge on this bike?

Also, does anyone know the kind of mileage that it gets? I've heard it averages 45 miles per gallon

Absolutely.

Three reasons:

1) Its used. You're going to have accidents getting acclimated to this bike and since its used, its going to be easier on the wallet to fix.

2) Its fairly low on CC's so it'll be more forgiveable when you make a mistake; i.e., jerk the throttle too hard therefore allowing you to recover before it bucks you off (a 1K cc bike would surely do this).

3) Availability of parts. Thus allowing you to make many modifications once you're ready.

Lots of people start off on 600cc bikes and this is a great choice. Suzuki SV650's are great as well so that may be another option if you can't find the F4i.

Good luck and ride safe!

great starter bike. just make sure you buy a junky one. you wont want it very long after you learn to ride. most people want something bigger almost right away. and def. dont get the sv650 unless your just gonna give it away or burn it or something. that thing is an imbarassing piece of crap!

Great choice. You are correct on the gas mileage assuming your not a throttle jockey.

ALL I CAN SAY IS.......THAT BIKE IS NICE,BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS UR GONNA WISH U BOUGHT A BIGGER BIKE.IF U CAN RIDE A 600, U CAN RIDE A750,900 WHATEVER! THINK ABOUT IT B-4 U BUY THAT 600. EITHER WAY,B SAFE & ENJOY!!!!!
