Can you get a street bike like the YZF-R1 in an automatic transmission?

Can you get a street bike like the YZF-R1 in an automatic transmission?

I never had a street bike before..

And wasn't sure how hard it was to learn how to ride with a manual transmission.

Nope. If you want an automatic tranny, you're limited to bikes from Ridley or maybe a Boss Hoss bike. Of course scooters are also automatic but they are a far cry from a bike such as the R1.

Learning to shift a bike is not difficult. It just takes some practising but it becomes second nature for most of us in no time.

No. But you may be able to get a centrifugal clutch for it. That way, you'd still have to change gears, but you wouldn't have to mess with the clutch lever at all.

What's the point of an automatic bike? Especially a superbike like the R1. Would you buy a Formula 1 car in automatic?!

no you have to bite the bullet and be a man and learn how to work the clutch adn gear system

Why would you want an Automatic R1? If you are looking for an automatic 2 wheel vehicle I would suggest a scooter.

please don't ever ask a question like this in public, people will laugh.

Trust me, once you know how to ride you won't want an automatic. Manual gives you so much more control over your power, you should try a manual car, it's annoying at first, but really helps you control the car, and once you get used to it, it's much faster than an automatic.

Approaching it from a different direction an R1 (or anything similar, down to and including R6, CBR600RR and GSXR 600s) is not an ideal bike to learn on you will need to get experience on a much smaller bike before you are ready to ride an R1. The direct connection of limb to engine and transmission is part of the joy of riding, you can get quickshifter systems which cut ignition to allow you to change up with only the gear lever but they are most useful on racebikes 鈥?they are just another gadget on a roadbike.
