What is the best street bike brand and is it safe to purchase on on ebay?

If not then where would you guys recommend to buy it at a cheaper prize?

The best brand will be a matter of opinion. I would suggest you visit a motorcycle dealer and check out various brands and styles and see what appeals to you.

Then you can go on ebay or craigslist (or a local newspaper) and find a used bike.

As for safety: Ebay is just as safe as anything else as long as you don't commit to buying without first seeing the bike in person.

Don't buy "long-distance" bikes. Shipping is costly...as is travelling there to retrieve the bike. And you are more likely to get scammed if you can't just go look at the bike first.

I recommend craigslist: http://www.craigslist.org for locating used bikes. It works on a local level so you can contact a seller and arrange to look at the bike before making any type of commitment.

personally i love the way ducatis handle and sound, especially the 1098 which beat a lambo gallardo on a track. but u should look into a yamaha R6 for a starter, and then move into the R1. its a good bike to start with, and it will get you going if thats what you want. but idk much about ebay, i dont really shop on that at all

You are just as likely to get duped by a dealer or the private seller across town as you are on Ebay. Just know what you want and go look at the thing. Motorcycles have VIN#'s like cars, so you may be able to look up a history report if any accidents/problems were ever reported to a department of motor vehicles or an insurance company. Other than that, you just have to deal with other bidders on Ebay which could drive the price higher than if you went around town. Go to www.cycletrader.com and see what you can find in your area first (or with in a manageable distance).

Remember, regardless of how you buy it, you typically are going to have to go pick it up, so don't get caught up on ebay and buy a bike that is 3000 miles away.

don't ever buy a cycle from E bay.if you cant see and touch it and hear it run and set on it.don't buy. Buy from a local seller,or dealer.that way you can test ride it.a good buy is a 750 cc touring bike.I LIKE JAPE bikes as they have good quality.HARLEY is just throwing your money away.

If you are not sure if it alright to buy something online you probably shouldnt be buying it online. I personally don't buy anything that I personally cant look at and decide with my own eyes.

Best brand is in the eye of the beholder. Kind of dumb to buy a bike sight unseen on EBay. Go look at some bikes. I always buy used and I usually have to look at 5 or more before I find just the one to make a deal on.

ducati is an awesome brand...but parts are a ***** to get and are frickin expensive.
what kind of street bike do you want? a sports bike or a cruiser/harley deal?
i would def. recommend craigslist for local, cheap bikes.
go to a dealer to check out bikes so you dont buy what looks or what you hear is nice, but what feels the best. Ex: people say go with an r1 for fast *** bikes, i say go with an FZ1- it's more comfortable (not always doin a pushup), it's cheaper (insurance and initial price), and it's the same exact bike plus 50 lbs.
just make sure you check the bike out in real life before you get it, no matter which route you go.
