Want 2 buy '08 Kawasaki Ninja 250R...They are cheaper in the USA i live in canada....is there trasnferable war

......warranty to Canada. The Bike is 4200 in Canada....and 3400 in the USA? I want to know if I buy it down in Michigan if the warranty is transferable to southwestern Ontario?

Also.....is there any chance my local Kawasaki dealer in Canada would match dollar for dollar the US price if I ....say hey I want this bike but not for the crazy markup in Canada.....can u give it to me for the US price..........or give it to me for the US price if i pay cash. Would that likely fly.

I've never had a street bike before just dirtbike....so I don't know how the process works. I plan to hit the showroom come spring.

I just bought an 08 Ninja 250 today. I don't think you realize that the pricing ISN'T marked up nearly as ridiculously as before.

The 07 Ninja was 3000 in the US and 6000 in Canada. I kid you not, it was double the price in Canada. With the updated styling they updated the pricing so that it's much closer together. As the previous poster noted 1. The warranty is NOT transferrable. 2. You will have to pay duties, tax, and documentation fees, and you'll have to go through a long process of importing. ie: informing US border 3 days before bike arrival, going to Canadian tire to get inspection, etc.

I wouldn't recommend doing it. Just go to your dealer and haggle em a bit.

Hey Victor - I'm Canadian too so, while the deal sounds good, I'll just make a few points you should think about. 1. If the bike is manufactured outside the USA you will have to pay DUTY (if it's made in the USA then the duty is NAFTA exempt). 2. You will still have to pay that state's tax (unless they deliver it right to the border for you) and you will have to pay Canadian PST & GST at the border anyway. 3. You will have to make sure it has dual speedos MI/KMS and you'll have to get a certificate within a few days to say that it meets all Canadian standards. So if you figure a combined GST/PST of 15% that's another $510(more or less) on your 3400. Lastly, most Canadian dealers WILL NOT honour/work on warranties on a bike purchased in the US (protectionism and they probably would not get paid by the manufacturer) Certification usually costs anywhere from $50-100........So, I would suggest that it's not quite the huge savings on that particular bike.

Canadian dealers are quite a bit more flexible these days making "matching"/better deals but get going soon because once the riding season starts, their business begins to pick up and they are less willing to deal. Good luck.
