Why bicycle riders ride in the street when there are plenty of sidewalks? |
Why bicycle riders ride in the street when there are plenty of sidewalks? Sidewalks are for pedestrians. In many places it is illegal for people to ride on the sidewalk. As annoying as they can be, it is actually illegal to ride on the sidewalks because they can potentially harm pedestrians, but, I still think it's funny that bikers are more likely to hurt themselves on a bike, especially in Chicago where I'm from. why do you ride in the street in your ******* car if there are plenty of sidewalks. If you are not a chicken **** why don't you confront those you see and maybe those bbs. under your belt will swell up a bit. A bike is classified as a vehicle there it has to obey the rules of the road its the motorists the sidewalks are for walking on the streets for the vehicles but same for the bikes. I had to stand up to a transit bus driver afew days ago with accusations like this, if she was on the air of the radio station I would have ripped her apart. Bicycles must obey the same rules as a motor vehicle, which means you must operate them in the street, not on the sidewalk with the pedestrians. They also have the same rights to the road as a motor vehicle. I commuted on a bike for years...still ride 35-50 miles some weekends, just for fun. |
