Are there any laws against riding horses down city streets? |
in other words, are horses considered "street legal" in most American cities? does it vary from city to city (i.e. maybe it's legal in small, rural towns, but not in New York?) If it's legal to ride bicycles on any city streets, I don't see why it shouldn't be legal to ride horses. What about other animals, such as donkeys or camels? Are they street-legal? Laws about livestock are governed by city. If you are asking because you need to actually do this, look it up in your city ordinance code. It'll either be online, at the local library, or down in City Hall. I live in Houston (within city limits), and there are some very nice people who occasionally ride their horses down our street. However, they do tend to cause traffic congestion, so they stay in neighborhoods and away from busy streets. In Tampa Florida there is. As you already know, it all depend on city ordinance so better check where you live. Each city has its own laws regarding your question. As for camels, it is illegal to ride on in Nevada on the highway. Check out this site for more crazy animal laws: http://www.xmission.com/~emailbox/loonyl... depends..where do u live?? I'm not aware of any laws against it. Although interestingly enough in Pittsburgh,PA it is illegal to bring a burro onto a streetcar. I'd say check with your local police department. Yes, it is illegal to ride horses in city areas. There are certain provisions made if it is for the purpose of religion. For example, the Amish, they don't believe in using anything motorized or electric. Good Luck and Take Care |
