Cell phone etiquette 101...Please advise...? |
I was driving me in my car, discussing an important business matter on a busy downtown street on my cell phone. I noticed my reception was bad, but got a whole lot better when I drove beside a bicycle messenger. He seemed freaked out by the proximity of my car, which was at least a few feet away at all times. He got so distracted he crashed into the side of a parked car. He is now suing me for reckless driving, but I feel innocent and he should have not worried about me. BTW, I closed the deal on the phone call. Any thoughts on this? I appear in small claims court tommorow. I feel that the 2 foot buffer zone was sufficient. We were only going 40 mph...tops... I hate your kind. I DO NOT yak and drive. It IS your fault and I hope the messenger dude gets the maximum! HANG UP AND DRIVE!!!!!!!!! Are you even allowed to talk on the phone and drive? I so hope you get ur just desserts-poor bikist and 40mph is enough to seriously hurt someone when you aint paying attention. You will get hosed. You violated the second rule of cell phone etiquette: never talk and drive. (First rule, turn off the cell phone ring in the theatre) are you joking? i cannot believe the answer youre providing to justify your actions. I hope he wins. you are doomed and on a cell phone even worse..oh well good luck... was there a bicycle lane? what are the laws where you live about cell phones? what are the laws about bikes ont he road? if you were going 40 mph and he could keep up -- he might have been the one riding reckelssly. personally i would be discussing business while driving - it is distracting to your driving, no matter how much you think it isn't. The law suite is frivolous and hopefully will get thrown out of court. |
