What are the laws regarding street legailizing a dirt bike in illinois? |
The bike is a 1991 yamaha YZ 250, I was told that because it is a two stoke it can not be converted to street legal, is this true? Where can I look to read about rules regarding the conversion, I know I need headlights and tail lights but do I need a speedometer or turn signals. Also, I was wondering if the alternator that exists on the bike is powerful enough to produce a large enough current to power the lights. Thanks for the help. I did a quick look at it & it doesn't look like they test bikes, but you may want to contact your local IL DMV testing center to make sure. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilc... I think anything over a 125 can be made street legal. you dont need turn signals. I dont think you need a speedometer but I'm not sure. |
