Can i take my dirt bike on the street? |
when it comes to riding on the street , of all the motorcycles ive had. the enduros were just far superior in heavily congested areas of the bay area. if i take a dirt bike and put a kit on it, you know the blinkers mirrors and stuff can i regester it with DMV? the reason for this is obvious if like to ride. light weight equals more time in the seat and i could go just about anywere. I believe you just need to make sure it has the proper lights, liscense and registration. You also need to be sure your drivers liscense has the proper motorcycle endorsement for your state. Your DMV online probably has the answers you need. you would have to check with the dmv - but you are able to make a dirt bike street legal I think you need to do something with the tires as well as the blinkers and mirror. Good Luck - hope you get great gas milage. Be careful and wear a helmet. I don't think these things are authorized for street use. Better check with your local authorities, before you get into some trouble. Yes you can it is called " street legal ". See a dealer near you. You can do it, but the DMV will require an inspection to make sure everything meets their standards. You may have a problem mounting a tail light to the plastic fender, and mounting it so it is aimed correctly. Also, the muffler will have to be a spark arrestor type. They MAY not allow knobby tires, I'm not sure on that one. That's about all that comes to mind...... you only need a headlight and tail light not blinkers then you could drive it on the st It's possible, but depends on what bike you have. California started to deny a change in status on Feb 1, 2004. There are a few bikes that can be changed, and all have a sticker on the frame that says the bike conforms to road use. Typically "Green Sticker" bikes are the ones that can make it through. I haven't found a complete list of bikes that make the cut though, sorry. But if you DO have a green sticker bike, then you'll need to add at least the minimimum to become street legal. 鈥?1. Headlight 鈥?2. Taillight with brakelight 鈥?3. Brakelight switch 鈥?4. Mirror (usually left side) 鈥?5. Horn And CA may require more. |
