How do I make my dirt bike street legal? |
What are the requirements for turning my KX450 into a street legal motorcycle? What about CC requirements? Can I also try to make my 250cc street legal? Fees? Don't even waste the money making the conversion. It's not worth it. Just sell it and go buy an enduro bike, which has the alt. and lights as well as being titled for registration, you will not find that the registration office will even make it street legal, being doccumented as dirt bike (Only). This is just the simple truth. Already lived this. search on yahoo or google search. many companies has many diffrent prices. so ask em. they must know what a legal dirk bike should be like. ask em Some states have a process you must go through in order to convert an off-road bike to street-legal. Check with the Dept. of Licensing or Dept. of Transportation for your state. You'll probably need to buy a kit as well. http://www.bajadesigns.com or http://www.elineaccessories.com/... baja designs Contact your local DMV. Do a web search for "(your state)dmv". You'll need a high & low beam headlight - horn - tail light - brake light (the tail light has to work while the engine is not running) - mirror - street leagle tires, knobbies aren't street leagle. Depending on your state, you may need turn signals. Ask your DMV how to get your bike registered (you need proof of ownership in order to get it titled). There are no cc requirements. You need front and rear turn signals and a headlight and brake light and of course license plate I believe they sell conversion kits at most of your bike shops. |
