Is there a way to register a motocross bike to be able to drive on the street?

I just bought a Yamaha YZ, and I was hoping to register it so I can drive it on the street. Mainly just so I can get motorcycle insurance through my insurance company if I want. It would be nice for when I rent Harley's and stuff. Also so I can drive it down the street to my buddy's if I wanted.

Does anyone know what I would need to do so I can do this? I live in Washington State.

Conversions Being Denied --
Unfortunately, many of our members and other law-abiding motorcyclists continue to be denied a vehicle inspection and street license for a properly modified off-road motorcycle, even after buying and installing conversion equipment that meets state and DOT standards for street use.

Recommendation --
At this time, and until this issue is resolved, the NMA recommends that off-road motorcycle owners refrain from buying and installing conversion equipment and kits specifically for the purposes of converting an off-road motorcycle for street licensing.

If you still want to pursue an off-road conversion inspection, we strongly encourage you to research the situation carefully.

However, the inspection process is not uniform or reliable; keep your expectations low and research the situation with the inspection station(s) you plan to visit -- prior to spending any money on conversion equipment.

You need blinkers, brake lights, side mirrors, then go get it registered for a lisence plate. Sometimes you need to replace the offroad tires with street tires, depending on your state. Also, you need a motorcycle liscence.

i live in washington.

the bike needs head lights, tail lights including brake, 1 mirror, a muffler, street legal tires and be properly licensed.
it could probably be done but would be costly and probably not worth the hassle.
