Bike title m.i.a.?

how do u get a replacement title for a street bike? cant seem to find the vin # anywhere either. bike is a '81 yamaha virago750. i just cant seem to find the title anywhere in the house, but i know its around here somewhere.

The VIN is on the steering head on a plate. It should be somewhere under the handlebars on an information plate. If you own the bike and it was registered in your name, a "lost title" application may be filed through your DMV. It's really a pretty simple process. Good luck. Source(s): Ridden for >30 years. Currently race a CRF450r motocross.
The vin is on the left side of the frame, right where the steering tube is. WHAT STATE?!?!??

if it`s in your name, go to the DMV, and get a replacement title, have plate number handy.
I had to get a duplicate title for a pickup truck a couple of years back and it was pretty simple.I went to the DMV with my ID (driver's license),they looked it up on the computer and issued me a duplicate title.I can't remember what it cost but I think it was fairly cheap. If it wasn't cheap I would have remembered that part.
I live in Ohio. It might be different where you live.
