Motorcycle sizes. i am wanting a bike but dont know what size i need? |
I am a 6'1" 220lb guy and i was wondering what a good sized bike would be for me. Like if the suspension could hold me. My friends said 200-250cc. Would be fine but im not sure. This is my first bike so i dont want too much power. Something that i can control with ease. By the way this is going to be a street bike. As I answered in the motrcycle section...... You don't specify where you live, which is helpful in answering this question. Because, though this question has been asked in the Australian only questions I can give you the web links to all the states driving /registration offices that will guide you as to what you will need to become a rider and in Australia it is LAW to where as AS1698 approved helmet, and depending on what state will depend on whether you have to go to a 2-day riding course to GAIN you "learners" and the day course (in 12 odd months time) to gain your "provisional". You will also have to stick to the bikes recommended on the LAMS list which can be a motorbike up to 660ml engine BUT with a power to weight ration of 150kw/tonne (and if it doesn't fit in to those 2 SMALL points then it will not be legal to ride.) Again I have provided the link to help you see what bikes are available on the list. A 250cc of some description is a great starting point, but again the best advice is to go to a motorcycle shop and try them out (that is sitting on them and seeing what fits you and feels comfortable) and trying out the gear the motorcycle shop is a great place to go as well and the sales staff will help you in deciding the right helmet size for you and how it should fit, not to mention the armoured jacket and if you are able armoured pants, boots, and gloves But good luck because ultimately the decision is yours!
