My new bike is so hard to ride...? |
I just bought a new bike. The company is Huffy Sports and the model is the Tundra. Basically, on the lowest gear, this bike has so much resistance and needs ALOT of leg strength to ride. It seems like something is wrong. I can barely ride this bike up the street, even DOWNHILL riding takes alot of strength. Is there something wrong with this bike? Does it need to be broken into? All of my previous bikes never had this problem. hey man, pick up the front wheel off the ground and spin it. do the same for the rear. hear any rubbing noise? if its touching against the brakes, this may be the problem and will need to be realigned. since its new, bring it back to your bike shop and get it fixed. but then again, this does sound like a department store bike. my advice is to bring it back and either get it fixed for free since its new, or return for your money back and go to a local bike shop. cheers you jus need to lay off the crack Try oiling it and make sure everything is lined up correctly by lowest gear, you mean the easiest right? small chainring in front, and biggest cog in back? you definitely shouldn't be experiencing that, esp downhill. spin you wheels to see if it's touching anywhere against the frame or the brakes. also lift the back and crank the pedal to ensure there's not a lot of resistence there - an overtightened bottom bracket can seize up your cranks. the other thing i can think of is proper air in the tires. they should be pretty firm when you squeeze it. low air feels like riding in mud. otherwise, bring it back and get another one. it should be riding perfectly when you get it. bike break-in should only stretch out brake/shift cables, making your shifts go off a little. It is most likely the brake pads rubbing against the wheels. It is either that or there could be something wrong with the chain, that could be causing it to catch on something. This definitely should not be happening when you are riding downhill lol, I thought that was pretty funny when it said it was hard to pedal DOWNHILL. That's the first time I've seen someone post that problem. Anyways, take it back to where you bought it and they should fix it for free if you have the warranty. They should fix it anyways if you bought it just recently. Hope this helps. Good luck. Dude, what year is the Huffy???I don't think they came out with a tundra, check either the name or the company. Also as far as the ride goes. Try cleaning the gear housing, and oiling it down. After that adjust the de-railers tension. Yes, there is something wrong with this bike. The name on the frame is the problem. Don't buy a crappy bike at Wal-Mart and come complaining to other cyclists that it sucks. We could have told you it sucks before you wasted your money on it. Take it back to the store where you bought it and get a refund, then go to a REAL bike shop that will get you fitted to the right size frame AND make sure the bike is built and adjusted correctly. Department store bikes are only made to do one thing: anchor boats. |
