What is a good motor bike to start off with? |
from a street legal dirt bike to anything else like a gold wing or even a scooter, because someone told me it's good to start off small. Smaller would be better at first. You can always move up to a bigger cycle when the time is right for you. Used cycle would be best, as you will only loose a lot of money by buying new and trading in one to two years. Be safe. I started with a Fazer 600 - very easy to ride and move around, great acceleration when you need it and good enough to progress with. A CBR 500 is an easier ride though if u r the sporty type get a racer, if u have the kinda play-it-cool attitude get a cruiser, if u like travel a tourer, if u like offroad adventure then a trail-bike, in all cases get something between 400cc and 600cc cause less than that u'll dislike it's lack of power after a few months, and greater than that, well could kill u as your 1st bike !!! in all cases, enjoy the ride! p.s forget about scooters get a real bike!! i have also to say, racers are typically easier to handle than cruisers, but cruisers are typically heavier and more stable, sometimes with better braking power also cruisers are more convenient in the sense that u can add saddlebags and stuff [a chance 2 carry things around, sport bike don't have that] also tourers have a comfy passanger seats in case u have a companion. there's a lot more but i don't wanna make it longer than this... personal experience My first bike was a Suzuki SV650. Really good. The best bike to start off with is.....(drum roll please....) A USED BIKE. Fact is, you will be dropping it while you learn to ride - why scratch up a nice new bike? As for what TYPE of bike is best for a beginer, that depends on your tastes and on your physical size. If youre a short person, start off with a Ninja250 - they are cheap as hell used, you can score one for under $1500. Learn how to ride, then buy a realy bike...maybe a 600cc. Thats all you need nowadays, as they are so freakin powerful - the new 600's have the same horsepower that my 96 ZX7RR has! (Its a 750cc bike) Good luck, stay safe, ALWAYS wear protective gear, and keep the rubber side down! suzuki sv650 is good for beginners. a real bike too. |
