Is a 1999 yz400f street legal in CA? |
it has a conversion kit installed, but the registration is back to 05. i heard dmv is pulling street covertion dirt bikes. is that true. any thing to tell me if its street legal or not California has in fact made all street legal kit bikes illegal, unless it comes street legal from the manufacure. You used to be able to make any 4 stroke machine street legal, by buying the kit and getting it registered, but the local and state represenatives started cracking down because these off road bikes are not smog certified. The bikes that come street legal, like the Honda XR 650L come with all the smog crap on it, making it legal. but if you can register it in a state where it is legal, you can ride it there!!!! What you heard is true,and do not try to register it in another state unless you have an address and are a resident of said state.Even if you manage to register it in another state it will have plates from that state,which means that you will have to get California plates anyway,which means you will have to have inspected there (in California)I think it is a bunch of BS but that is the law. Trust me,It has been tried. |
