How does one go about getting legal permission for a new type of motor bike to drive on the streets.?

A friend of mine has invented a bike that can travel 60 miles per hour but works only by battery and occasional peddling. What does one have to do to be legally allowed to drive on the streets. A source of info would be appreciated ... Thanks Tony

Try contacting your state Department of Transportation office or your local Department of Motor Vehicles. They'll have a list a requirements the vehicle must meet to be legal. Good luck!
