Should I buy this bike? Salvage title, but very cheap.?

I am looking at an 01 Honda CBR600F4i. It is in pretty good shape for an 01, few scratches here and there but looks pretty good on the whole. Has all the fairings. The bike rides well and doesnt seem remotely crashed.

The bike has a SALVAGE title. In my state that means it is fully street legal, registered, etc, just that it was owned by an insurance company at one point.

He is selling for only $2300. My last bike happened to be an 01 F4i in decent condition and it sold for $4300, so salvage or no this seems like a good deal.

I want to sell the fairings, learn to stunt on this bike for a few months, and then if I dont wreck it, sell it for the same price I paid for it.

bike rides OK... your going to strip off the fiberglass/plastic & stunt on it...so its not on the road...? the question is???? what exactly... or are you just telling everyone cos you are going to ride it on the road & we deserve to be given warning that another tosser is about to be on the road???

as for parting out the bike... theres lots of them already in bike dismantelers.. so Im guessing parts arnt worth a huge amount... but you would break even at least... Source(s): Ron dosnt allow emails & has no info on his profile.. so you people answering will have to play psycic & guess what the question is.....................LMFAO
I would have a mechanic look it over before buying it. But I would do that with any used car or bike. The problem with salvage vehicles, is most banks won't give you a loan for one, knowing that the resale is terrible. If you want to cage the motor and stunt it, this bike sounds right for you. I would keep all the plastics to put back on the bike when it comes time to sell it. Maybe even clean them up, primer and paint them for that new bike look
Do it.
a salvage title doesnt necesarilly mean it was crashed. it can just be they lost the title and had to get a new one. get it thats a good deal. especially if your just gonna stunt.
I bought a 01 F4i for my wife. same kinda deal, you can't get a loan on a salvage title in Oklahoma so I paid 4300 cash in 2002 for it. It ran great and has never had a problem. With sport bikes if you trash the plastics that totals the bike and gets you a salvage title. It is always good to get a mechanic you trust to look at any used bike before you buy it. Sounds like a good deal to me.
