What are the rules and regulations to follow when you are riding your bike at work or just enjoing the day? |
This actually happening in Van Nuys,California . Everybody tells me different rules including the police. so, if anybody out there knows exactly whats in going on with biking rules on the streets, licences or etc. please let us know.thanks.Jaap. the cyclist has to obey the same rules as a motorist: when on the road follow the flow of traffic, this is to say ride with traffic not against. approaching a stop or yield sign come to a complete stop long enough to look on your left, right, at a 4 way stop same procedure, the person who gets there first and on the right can proceed. if you are riding your bike please wear your helmet, motorists have to wear their seatbelts. use you are going to turn use hand signals. your left arm does the signalling for the most part arm out if you are turning left bent at the elbow turning right the other alternative turn right signal is right arm out slow or stop left arm hanging down at a 45 degree angle Source(s): as I am answering your question I am picturing myself on my bike doing all this ( walking you this ) happy riding and be careful. You can refer to a drivers handbook since cyclists have to obey the same rules. I'm assuming you already have a driver's license? You follow those rules. There should also be a California motorcycle handbook that deals specifically with operation of motorcycles. Check the DMV website and download a copy. The british highway code is very specific on what applies to cyclists and motor cyclists. I would imagine that there is a similar document in the USA that you could consult. An Englishman |
