Harley Davidson street glide? |
I was wondering has bought a Street Glide older than a 06? If so, how are they compared to the newer ones? What was the first year that the Street Glides came out? Are there mechcanicaly better year moldels than others, since each year something new in the mechcanic portion of the bike changes? Thanks '06 was the last year for the TC88, and the first for the 6 Speed. As the last year of the engine, it's tried and proven. There are all sorts of parts available if you need (or just want) them. I have heard of heat issues with the larger 96. I like the security of having an 88. Well, newer model Glides have fuel injection and are 96 inch I believe; I'm a carb man. The first Street Glide came out in 2006 I think. Reason why they did that is because people were tricking there Glides out and they wanted some of the action. If you鈥檙e in the market, I say look into something between 1999-2004. They will be twin cam 88 inch which is nice. I would rather get the standard instead of buying one that has a clean look. Other than the bigger engine and 6 speed tranny they haven't changed much since the Twin Cam in late 99. The Twin Cam is their best engine yet. But if you like Harley's you can't go wrong with anything after 85 in my opinion. But the newer the better. For a more comprehensive list go to Harley-Davidson.com 2006 the street glide comes out 2007 engine increases to 96 ci and 6 speed transmission, chassis stiffened. 2008 Brembo brakes, ABS optional, 6 gallon gas tank, fly by wire (no throttle cables), I forgot that the touring models came out with a 50mm throttle body. No matter what model you buy, there always seems to be a new model year upgrade. There's no time to buy like the present. Once you ride a Harley, you'll understand what all the hype is about. |
