Harley Davidson Street Bob or a Harley Davidson Softtail Standard? |
I have been riding a 1999 883 for six years and I want to move up in the world. I'm 5'9'' and 120lbs but I want bigger. I've looked and can't make up my mind on a softtail standard or the street bob both would have to be an 2006 model. I would like to have comfort and performance with out putting money into the bike.. thanks i vote soft tail standard. they're a good bike to hit the twisties, and they have a bit of a 'chopper' look. I vote for the street bob. got my 883 hugger new in '99:) both bikes will be about the same for seat height the Dyna will have mid controls instead of forward controls on the softail. the o6 Dyna will also offer 6speed trans as opposed to a 5 speed, and a better cam/engine design. the suspension on the Dyna will also be better handling and better ride. However the fxst is more of a classic representation of a Harley , more nostalgia. I'd say if you want the classic look go with the fxst (softail standard). If you want to be more comfortable etc... go with the fxdb (Dyna street bob). Two words for you: TEST RIDE. Go to a dealership and ride both, then decide which one you like best. Good luck! I have a Softail Deluxe and it's very low to the ground and comes really highly chromed, but it's also pretty expensive. I get lots of compliments on mine though. I agree with Team Chief. Take them both out for a bit. I'm 5'9" and about 130 lb. My preference runs toward the Street Bob. Which only makes sense because I'm on a Superglide now. Fuel injection makes for easy starts, and that 6-speed is sweet. |
