Kawasaki replica bikes made by "Lifan"? |
Hi I am looking for my first street bike and I was on craigslist and I saw an ad for a "Up for sale is a 2006 Kawasaki ninja 200cc replica street bike. The orginal brand is a china made brand called Lifan which is Number 1 overseas right now." I am new to this and dont want to get into a bad deal. He also said that the bike is so new that it hasnt been registered yet. Please help! If you want to look at the ad for more info then here is the addy: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/mcy/3... 1. Lifan is not the number 1 bike overseas. If it is you should be able to go to anywhere and test ride one. 2. Read the guys add, it is full of contradictions (and poor grammar and spelling) I would not trust him. 3. Chinese replica bikes are notoriously unreliable. 4. You will get nowhere near the performance of a real Ninja. 5. Its up to you but I would never recommend that someone buy their fist bike on the net unless they have someone who has a good knowledge of bikes and is prepared to back them you up if you need to say no. Never ever hand over any money unless you have checked out the bike and test ridden it. Lifan does well. They make Honda clones too that are good quality I`m a scooterist, I know this stuff. No, No, No...not for your first bike.. the Chinese bikes are new to America and sell cheap... God help you when you need a part or repair.. and you will.. Buy any clean used 250cc Japanese bike.. Honda Nighthawk or Rebel, Yamaha Virago, or the Suzuki GZ.. all are good reliable street bikes that won't let you down and you can sell them for almost what you paid if you want a bigger bike someday. The real Kawasaki 250 Ninja is a fine little race bike, but I would recommend one of the others as a first bike. I ride in Riverside Co California traffic and I also recommend that if you are new to riding you should go to a riding class before you go out there with the cage drivers who will try to get you... ride safe... Stay away from it you can find a cbr600 for just a little more ... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-hond... It's a 600 yes but getn the 200cc is like getn a moped ... seriously get something like the one above or an older Kawasaki ZX6R or Yamaha R6 For $1500 bucks it seems like a reasonably good deal. It looks like a good bike to learn on. Not too big or powerful. So what if you outgrow it in year and sell it for half price?! You will only be out $750 and gained a world of experience and fun over the summer. I say go for it. Use the money you save to invest in good quality riding gear. Ride safe. Start out slow and take it easy. Sign up now for a MSF class if you haven't already done so. Classes fill quick. |
