Which one of these bikes should I buy? |
Looking for the pros and cons 1978 Yamaha xs1100 $1100 black 1981 Honda cb750 $1500 blue/gray This will be my first street bike. I have owned three different XS-11's over the years, and have always loved the way they ride and the power they had. Unfortunately, your 1978 model is rapidly approaching 30 years old, and parts are hard to find. They are strong, powerful bikes with few mechanical problems, but if it breaks down out in the middle of nowhere, you may never get it home again. It's getting hard to find mechanics who are willing to work on these bikes, just because the repair parts aren't that easy to locate any more. The 1981 Honda is not in a much better situation, but some dealers still support them and parts may be easier to find. If possible, take the bike you want to buy to a local mechanic and have it checked out before you buy it. It may save you lots of money and grief in the future. And don't forget to save some money for a good quality helmet and riding gear. Ride Safe! Source(s): 45 years of motorcycle riding experience. i don't know about the yamaha but the cb 750 has a very solid engine, i had a '74 and it ran great I prefer the ones that one pedals. It's better for you. Don't forget a brain bucket. botha bit old ... and fast for a first street bike the 750 has killer torque . damn fast too weeeeee honda. scooby.doo. |
