Yamaha or suzuki? |
im looking to buy my first street bike in about a month here... i have never had a street bike, but i have eperience on four wheelers, probably doesn't relate to much. I dont wanna be to picky but would Like to go with 04' gsxr 600, or 04-05 r6. Anyone who can give good input on which to go with for first time rider? A gsxr or an R6? I'll be looking for you on the side of the road. I'll stop to help if you are still alive. You are going to kill yourself on something like that for your first bike. Everyone wrecks once. You don't want to be going 100 miles an hour when you do. I was going about 50 when I wrecked and I'm lucky I'm alive. I know people with both and everyone has no complaints about either. I personally would go with Yamaha, but only because that is the only brand quad I have ever owned and had no problem with any of them. First bike ? Look for something like a Katana or a Honda Interceptor. If you MUST drive a crotch rocket style bike. They are both a little more tame. A beginner shouldn't be on either a GSX'r or an R6. 600s are a bit fast for a beginner, it depends on how responsible you are. I started on a Suzuki GS500 and that is a nice starter bike. Kawasaki also makes a Ninja 500. Both are lighter and easier to handle to start, but def are not toys you'll outgrow too quickly. They are cheaper too. So if you wreck it or tip it over your not hurting an $8,000 bike. You newbies never cease to amaze me. You all ask the same f*cking question and get the same f*cking answer. No, your Gixxer/R6/CBR600/ZX-6R/Daytona crotch rocket is NOT a good motorcycle for a beginner. You don't have the skills to pilot one, and the bikes don't care. They'll let you screw the pooch all the way to the morgue, and more power to them. They aren't toys, they take training and experience to ride properly, and anyone that thinks a 600cc bike is "too small" is either Troy Bayliss or a squid. When you posted your question, I KNOW you saw a huge list of similar questions in Yahoo's effort to spare us all from your ignorance, but you went ahead and posted it anyway, didn't you, Junior? Make no mistake, my ire is not directed solely at you, but to all the morons who continue to ask this question day in and day out like retarded children at an ice cream shop. You know how to use a computer, folks, and there is a WORLD of information out there on the big, bad internet to learn from, so try doing a little homework first, OK? My only advice for a first time rider would be - don't buy a sport bike. I just went to the funeral of a guy I've known for years that decided to start riding a motorcycle - bought a crotch rocket, rode it for about a month - then lost control of it on day and smacked into the control box for a turn signal, nearly cutting him in half. The riding position, acceleration, top speed, and braking power are too much for a lot of people to handle. Even once you get used to it - they are still uncomfortable and dangerous. I ride an '06 Suzuki Boulevard C50 (805cc) - it's a cruiser, with fuel injection, liquid cooling, and a shaft drive. You may or may not like that style of bike - but it is much more comfortable, and handles really well due to a low center of gravity. It doesn't have the unholy acceleration or top end of a sport bike - but it isn't slow by any means. Get what you want - but whatever you do, be careful. Most defensive riding classes will tell you to pretend like you are invisible to other cars - I take it a step further and pretend like people are actually trying to kill me, that way I'm never surprised when someone suddenly swerves across three lanes of traffic, and slams on their brakes right in front of me. I agree with bikernoj. Go get a Honda Rebel 450 for a starter bike. Learn to RIDE it first before you strap your azz into a rocket and get yourself killed. Riding an atv is NOT the same as riding a bike. |
