Motorcycles what's the cheapest to run? |
im not talking about fuel eco i crashed my bike last year and it cost me an arm and a leg to repair i was wondering over all what is the cheapest bike to repair mechanically and fairingconsumables etc as well as ease of repair it's a tall order for a yahoo question i know but someone out there must know cheers oh and it has to be either a street bike ( ie speed triple ) or sports bike (ie cbr) doesnt have to be new though id consider a 1996 blade etc Try looking through eBay as people are always selling complete plastic sets for sports bike as they use them for track days and sell off the good plastics to get some money back. Look to see whats the most common on there and go for something like that.I have a '94 FZR 6OOR which was cheap to buy and hasnt cost me much to run. Parts are easy to come by, its easy to work on and its still quick (well mine is, indicated 140mph and still accelerating) i have an 04 748 ducati that i use for track days, it has been laid down a couple of times.i had some fiberglass fairings made up that are a quarter of the price of new ducati ones. i also fitted frame sliders,and they have helped to prevent damage.so now if i ever come off again the damage is minimal. 38 years of racing and riding. Someone is actually recommending a Ducati as having the cheapest mechanical repairs???? Maybe if you are a motorcycle mechanic and live in Italy. The rice burners have gotta have the cheapest parts, pick one with the least fiberglass.
