I am thinking of buying 07 V-STAR CLASSIC 650 ?

This is my first street bike and i was wondering if i can get your opinion if this is the right bike. I am 6ft tall weight 230lbs and if it can carry a passanger that weights about 160lbs every now and then. This bike is going to be my daily driver i am going to put at least 150miles each day. Does it rides smooth in the hwy and maintainance cost.
Thanks.

I like tree85's answer. I ride the V-Star 1100 Classic '06 and I'm about 5'10" 180lbs. I have mine fitted with V&H pipes and rejetted carbs and although there is plenty of power, its not TOO much. You would like the 1100 for the type of riding you describe. Only drawback is that it lacks a fuel gauge.
P.S. I added a Cobra Tach to mine.
Step up to the 1100. More power, but the same size frame.
This is a good first street bike. Get used to it before you step up to something bigger.
Get the H-D Sporty in 883. You can get it cheap, it's a real bike, and it don't matter what you haul. Get the XL1200C model for the forward controls and at six foot you will be fairly comfortable. Just a few bucks more and a bit more weight. I used an XL1200C as a daily driver for quite some time, but only 20 miles each way. She was smooth with no load. My new love, an FXDWG with the TC-88 is a completely different animal. And animal she is! Twist the wick and go like hell! Not that the old 1200 was slow, but this girl kicks butt. Good luck on your choice and ride safe.

P.S. If you do get an H-D you can't worry about maintenance costs. It's about $125-$150 every 1,500 to 2,000 miles. And that's just for an oil change! (With an inspection to make sure your bike is safe, of course.) It's called the "Harley Tax".
Good choice for a first steet and yes it carry both of you just fine good looking dependable, low ,maint and they make a lot of cool *** for it first take it easy and take a riding and go at your speed and buy a pair leather saddle bags for it make all the carring stuff
I work with a guy that has one and he's 5'11" ~200lbs and he seems to be really happy with his bike. He has a 2006 and its his first bike. If your doing 150 miles a day on it, I would suggest a wind screen of some sort.

He swears by the following website for information about the bike and the guys on the forum. I would suggest you ask guys that actually own the bike.

To me the VStar seems under powered for its size. It also requires a lot of maintence, frequent valve adjustment , for instance.
I'd look at either a Honda Shadow or Kawasaki Vulcan .
