What is best drag launch RPM, clutch release, etc., for 鈥?7 Gixxer 1000 with a 10.0k to 12.3k rpm power band? |
The bike: 2007 GSX-R1000; completely stock (for now); 159.7 hp@12,300 rpms; 75.7 lbs-ft@10,000 rpms. The rider: 5'5" (cannot put heels on ground) & 155 lbs. While experienced with dirt bikes and smaller street bikes, new to in-line, 4-cylinder, 1-liter crotch rockets. Need recommendations for drag race launch rpm, clutch release, etc. ALL input will be greatly appreciated! THANX! If your new to liter bikes I wouldnt suggest trying to launch that bike, and if you do start in the low rpms and just work your way up slowly, I have a friend thats been riding a r6 for about 3-4 years and I used to see him doing 200+yard wheelies and burnouts, he just got a new R1 and (wisdow, not fright) hes riding around like hes new to the game considering what he what he was doing before and even still I saw him leaving his parents house about a week ago and even though it didnt look like he was trying to take off that fast you could see the front end gettin floaty on him, not really a wheelie but it was like the tire was just barely touching the ground try launching at around 6500rpm and work your way from there.but remember you will have to play with the clutch to prevent to much wheel spin or the front end coming up and over.different track surfaces will need different launch rpm so practice and have fun 38 years riding and racing. Gixxers are much more stable and better balanced than the R1 please don't compare that crap R1 to the GSXR. Try starting at about 6000 rpm. Work your way up from that and make sure your tires are real warm before playing with the devil gixxer. Congrats on the liter bike, be careful with it, respect the bike because there is no room for error on it. On the second to last light let it go.... Anything after that and the reaction time will be poor.. 1 gear on that bike is coo-coo so you better work your way up by practising because this bike is going to wheelie right through first gear... I would start smooth and increase the aggressiveness each run because trust me it is going to take finesse to control this thing and you should know exactly what the feel is of the throttle... The rider is the bike Good luck |
