Where can I learn moto safety...? |
do they teach motorcycle safety and driving at high schools? if not where can I learn how to drive and control one and get a licence to drive a street bike? i'm in the 9th grade so it's not much longer till i can drive and i want a street bike for my first vehicle.. Look up the Motorcycle Safety Foundation online, or stop by any motorcycle dealer and ask. All manufacturers support the MSF, and should be able to provide you with the information you're looking for. If you want a head start, go get a book titled "Proficient Motorcycling" and read it cover to cover. Then read it again, just to be sure. It has so much information specific to motorcycling and surviving in traffic that you would never think of, and it could save your butt someday. not a good idea hon.... you need to learn the rules of the road before hoping your butt on a street bike... everything in due time.. if you rush life you may lose yours... call your local Bureau of Motor Vehicles for street bike certification in your area! Go to http://nm.msf-usa.org/msf/ridercourses.a... Take a class before you buy a bike. There are six places in Dade county that offer classes. Buy a full-face DOT/Snell approved helmet and a good mesh jacket. You can get good deals on gear (jacket/gloves) on www.newenough.com. I highly reccomend the MSF Course which teaches fundamentals and gives you a chance to ride smaller bikes. I took the course before buying a motorcycle and it gives you a comfort zone that is much needed. The course is about $180.00 Learn the rules of the road behind the wheel of a car first. You can walk away from a lot of mistakes on four-wheels that you won't survive on a bike. After a couple years experience behind the wheel take th MSF beginner course and learn how to ride the right way. Most people I've know who were killed riding a motorcycle were under 18. Been riding/racing both on-road and off since 1984. |
