Im 18 and buying a motocycle and need suggestions.? |
Im 18 tall and around 280 and im buying a Street bike im deciding between a Honda CBR-600RR or a CBR600F4I and alot of people tell me im stupid and I dont know any better but I feel I do I drive very well ive never gotten in a accident or in trouble im very causious and safe i am gana take a saftey class what do you guys think? this will also be my first bike. Neither of these 2 bikes are very forgiving with novice riders and both are uncomfortable on long rides. They are very similar in design. Try some other styles before you buy. I'd start on something more like a Nighthawk (if you're diggin the hondas) or a Yamaha Maxim (Both bikes available in 550, 650, and 750 ccs). They are what the industry refers to as 'standard' bikes. They have plenty of power, are easy to ride, and easy to maintain. Most importantly, their steering geometry is such that they are easy to recover if you dive too steeply into a corner without enough speed, or drive too hard into a corner. Their seating position is more upright and its easier to keep your balance when upright. Your visibility will be better when seated upright. Not to mention that there is no expensive bodywork to replace when it does go down (and it will, we've all done it). They are much less expensive. Drive the cheaper bike for a season or two. Learn your riding habits and discover what you really want from a bike. You will probably be very surprised how different what you thought you wanted and what you really want is. I'd never reccomend buying your 'ultimate' bike for your first bike. Source(s): Old biker i would say go for it dont listen what people tell you!go with your gut and go to classes and learn thats what its there for.if u fail keep trying until you get better.and then u decide yourself if u want to get that bike and keep it. ;) if u have to have this bike, so be it....but when this bike hurts u bad on ur first mistake, dont come back and say that we didnt warn u this scoot was too much for u. better check the insurance rates for ur age....that might convince u to hold off on the super bikes and go for a cruiser instead. Sorry, but ask any nurse/doctor what theythink of motorbikes and they will tell you you are crazy. Congrate for the new first bike !! The CBR suits your body size. Good for you to be careful everytime on the road keep it like that. you will never know when the accident will happen. I fell from my bike, just because a chicken crossed the road :) happy riding. I have the RR. Its comfortable. |
