Speed Question? |
Is 176mph considered to be very fast for a Street bike? Or is it kind of typical? The 1950's Vincent Black lightning standard speedo went up to 150mph, though 1 was taken to 185mph. So yes that is a standard speed for a high end street bike that you get straight out of the box today with no mods required. Also my Hubby's 1999 Suzuki GSXF 750(or in the US - Katana) has also hit 160mph with me on the back (& Yes I had a very good view of the speeedo & the Policeman in the mirror (that we outran) When we stopped I gave him an ear bashing that he still has ringing in the ears! It's ok. A ZX-11 and 12 can top out around there. A ZX-14 gets beyond it easily. I've heard some 600 guys around here touting numbers around 160's (that I don't believe). ps Kari, So your husband says. I know you did not peak over his shoulder at 160mph. Check his cellphone. He probably tells you he's faithful too. 176 MPH is easily twice as fast as it is smart to drive a street bike. What difference does it make? Oh, yeah, bragging rights. But that will get you dead, too. Personal experience Um its typical and 160s for a 600 is not impossible my husband has one and he gets in the 160s thats about average for the new 1000's um a turbo 1300 hayabusa can hit over 200 |
