How do you put sportbike tires on a dirtbike?

I've got a couple tires for a street bike and I was just wondering what would you have to do to make them fit on a dirtbike? a YZ125 to be exact..

First off, you will have to replace the rims on your YZ.
Buy a set of 17" rims (most street legal sport bikes are 17"), have them laced to your hubs and away you go.
You will encounter one issue with your YZ at that point; the suspension is much to compliant for asphalt.
Be cautious if you do this as long forks, too soft suspension can get you pitched off in a blink of an eye. Source(s): Owner of XR 650 Supermoto

Tires are designed to fit a specific sized wheel. Either the tire will fit or they won't. There's nothing you can do to "make them fit".

Tires also have their size embossed on the sidewall. Do the sportbike tires have the same size as the dirtbike tires? My guess is they aren't even close.
Totally agree with what the first guy said. I have a yz125. Front tire spec is 80/100 21. Rear calls for 100/90/ 19. That's yamaha spec. You can go a little wider on the tires, but not much, but they have to be 21 inches for a stock front and 19 for a stock rear. Another problem you run into is being street legal. Don't know where you live but most states require at least a taillight, a headlight, and a speedometer. And a license plate. Plus, it's a two stroke. Most states EPA and emissions won't let you drive it on public roads anymore. If you want to make it a supermoto bike for the track only it will work. Sorry to burst your bubble.
buy a set of superMotard 17" wheels.

why do you want to put sport tires on a dirtbike? unless you are riding SuperMoto style? they will not handle as well

if you are doing it to save money? dirt tires are CHEAP!
i had akront rims made for my kx500 as i put on the road and ran 16" dragons.you cant get sports tires for your front wheel anyway being 21"
