Saw an old 70's era Honda 750 w/ kickstart this past weekend, and it got me thinking about my own bike's excessive electrical needs straight from the factory. What is the "simplest" motorcycle available nowadays that still has modern brakes and suspension? BTW, I work on my own bike too so that's another reason that simpler is better.
the modern bikes have a greater compresin then the old bikes. It needs more power to turn the motor so they need a electric starter . If you've never had to kick-start a cold, slightly out-of-tune, slightly flooded British twin motorcycle engine, then you don't know just how good electric starters can be. I wouldn't trade my electric starters and electronically controlled fuel injectors for anything in the world! You can always put in a 4 with a kick transmission on your custom Harley...Anything is possible with all the aftermarket resources available. It would go great with a carburated V-twin...Air cooled single coil ...Nice and simple.....Cause we love america and wouldn't be caught dead on a British or Jap motorcycle.
