How do I get a street legal title for a crf450x in north carolina? |
the bike already has all the DOT lights and turn signals and such, but how do i get it truly legal? The thing we've been running into lately is that on most of the Japanese bikes have "For Off-Road Use Only" stamped right on the MSO/CO. NC DMV is getting pretty funny about that and has told us that we will have to apply for a title as a 'custom'. KTM's old EXC's and the new XC's don't have that stamped on it, so the process is a little easier. File for a lost title with the DMV. u need serial number, model, all that and a new title can be made. Did you buy this bike new? Did it come with an MSO? If you bought it used, did it come with an off-road title? You will need to check with the NC DMV. Some states have a process you must follow in order to get a street-legal title for an off-road motorcycle. This info should be on the NC DMV website. You will also have to prove you paid sales tax on the vehicle or pay the tax upon registration. You also need to prove the bike meets the minimum requirements for being street-legal in NC. Keep in mind every state has different requirements and some no longer allow street-legal conversions. Check the following for more info. http://www.bajadesigns.com http://www.elineaccessories.com... Check out Baja Designs on the internet. They sell kits. |
