Why aren't there any street legal four wheelers or "quads" on the market? |
is it a matter of practicality? What keeps them from releasing a dual-sport quad bike? They are street legal here in Arizona. Dealers will add on the proper stuff you need if thats how you order it. Also they are titled here. Source(s): 2001 Polaris 250 Trailblazer Not that I know of. The tires are not suitable for highway use, no legal lights (signals and all the rest). At highway speeds you would likely have a lot of turn overs, because of the way they are balanced. Too many deaths in my state for them to ever be street legal ( being used illegally on the highways ). Several reasons. The wheelbase is too short for highway speeds. The center of gravity is too high so they roll easily on pavement. They would have to have a rear differential that would add a lot to the cost. All the chacteristics are fine on loose ground but dangerous on pavement. some states yoi can make them street legal but you have to buy the stuff extra. It's mostly a matter of state laws. Too many liberal states out there that won't allow it. To me, it's not that different than a dual sport bike. True, the tires are not designed for highway, and they tend to vibrate quite a bit at highway speeds, but the handling isn't that bad. They could at least allow them on rural roads and not highways and interstates. I would gladly put some turn signals on my ATV if I could ride it to work! That would be awesome! It makes me want to move to a state like West Virginia that allows them on the roads! Can you spell J E E P? |
