Converting Dirtbike into an Enduro? |
If I wanted to make a dirt bike street legal is this possible? Or does it have to be made for the street from the factory? Thanks. You don't say what state you're in. Some states have very tough laws on turning a off-road only machine into a legal plated road bike. You'll need to check with your states' Department of Motor Vehicles to find out what must be done. At a minimum you will ned to install a head light, tail light/brake light, and mirrors. Possibly turn signals and a horn as well, and your head light might need a high/low beam. All of this might need a more powerful alternator to provide electricity for all these new lights. You can figure out how to do it yourself, or you can order a ready-to-go kit for some bikes - do a search for "Baja Designs," they sell street legal kits for many dirt bikes. Also check out theumpertalk.com, lots of good info on doing this kind of conversion in the discussion forums there. Source(s): Been there, done that. Can't street a 2 stroke anymore.If it's a 4 stroke,it just needs lights and street tires.Check local shop for inspection standards.. if it is a 2 strke, you cannot make it street legal, but if it is a 4 stroke, it is easily made into a street legal machine. go online and search for a "baja kit". this will include everything you will need to make your bike street legal, such as a horn, turn signals, 2 beam head light, brake light, wiring...etc, then put it all on, and go get it registered, its that easy.....
