South Africans - who remembers the jol in Hillbrow and Rockey street in Berea? |
Remember Cafe Wien, Fontana Chicken, The Milky Cove, Exclusive Books and Hillbrow Record Library? How about the jol on Fridays and Saturdays on Rockey st. or at nightclubs like the 'Res' Club, Idols or Kiss? Remember all the ous on their bikes checking out all the chicks? Got to be some of you out there. Give me some good answers and take us all back to another time. Lived at the cafe wien especially sundays checking the greeks playing backgammon and drinking endless cups of turkish coffee not that they would admit it hey, just not done boet. Used to go to the Europa hotel friday nights for a jol and end up at fontana in the early hours of saturday getting some chow, **** man those were days, now it's a fu*king dump only druggies and Nigerians protected by the cops and filthy whores. Not me...but I can imagine my parents remember it!! They went there like every weekend!! sorry dude, im a capetown boy.been to hillbrow a few times when i was on pass from the army.that was in the 90`s.been to few jols there but dont remember the names. Yep all comes flooding back in memeories, the "Milky lane" was a great place to take "chicks" - dont even think the Franchise exists anymore? - would have loved one of them. I can remember most of JHB jols & more from the same era?, Scants, Heaven, Bella Napoli "Bell'as", The Dome, Fancy That, Mandys, Q's hell even ThunderDome, TopClub was OK, there was one club near the Carlton Centre closed down in the Mid/Late 80's a DJ mate of mine from school had one of the first Raves in JHB there late 80s he hired the club for one night what a party, now he is a "Big Wig Banker" HAHA dj to Banking Hmmm I actively try & collect music club or commercial from circa 81 onwards building up a good collection of memeories, but its hard to find stuff. I wonder what has happened to all the folks I knew socially from all the various clubs u know club buds not lifelong mates HAHA Many memories of ladies met @ the clubs getting vrot being bounced out but always going back & no hard feelings u got a klap for being a do*s that night but the following night all was forgiven. Yea the good old memories keep me young in spirit haha, my wife knows few of these clubs as she wasent even born HAHA Cheers Ed Memories |
