I was wondering if you need insurance or a license for an enduro/dual sport dirtbike? |
my parents said you dont need a license or insurance for a moped, i wanted to know if you needed either of them for an enduro dirtbike? such as this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/other-mak... As long as you're only using it on YOUR house or lot, you aren't traveling on public roadways or public parks, or someone else's property, you don't need to license it. Just like cars. You don't need a license or insurance or plates to drive your own car (or dirt bike) on your own property. Only once you hit a public road, or someone else's property. If it needs to be registered, it needs to be insured. You can't get a plate for it without insurance. Use that as your guide. However, generally speaking, if you are not going to be using it on public roads, insurance will not be needed. However, since it is still a motorized vehicle, you still will have to keep up with registration with the DMV. Even farm equipment are all registered, so just be sure that's okay. |
