How do I get my mom to be less protective? |
My Mom is so over protective! I can't do anything at all! I'm not allowed out ANYWHERE (whether it's day or night) without adult supervision, and the adult has to be someone my mom knows really well. I'm 13 years old and I can't go to the mall or movies with my friends because I'm not allowed to unless their parents are going too, but this never happens because none of my friends WANT to go with their parents. I am home all day everyday doing nothing. I want to hang out with my friends but I can't without adult supervision. I can't even go out on the street to ride my bike without my mom beside me. And my parents are SO busy that they can't take me anywhere anyways, so I can't go anywhere. I feel so lonely! What are some ways I can gain their trust and get them to let me go? I've tried talking but my mom said "Maybe when I'm 16 or something, I can go to the movies with friends." It's not like I'm going to jump into the car of some random old guy! I'm smart, ut they won't let me! HELP maybe your parents had something bad happen in the past concerning young children so they are over protective....hang tough life will change show them how mature you are and in a few years life will be o.k. hang tough..... maybe start asking your parents for small things..small periods of time unsupervised...than show them you are able...... your parents love you if not they would let you go everywhere so they do not have to deal with you...so remember they love you..... Your only 13! You'll get more freedom when you get older. Just prove to her that you are worthy to be trusted... Put yourself in a situation in which you think you can handle that your mom thinks that you can't. Well, you are young...but try talking to her in a mature manner start acting mature(if your not already)....and then (maybe) she'll see that you've matured and she trust ykou..... Better that she should be over-protective than don't care. You're mother is smarter! Too many young girls get raped and kidnapped!! Can you have a girlfriend come over and "play" at your house without your mother home? I gather you don't have a daddy at home. Join the Y , go to camp for a couple weeks, go swimming, bowling .... You can have a good time with an adult chaperone and your mother can be at peace! You have to understand your mom. She wants the best for you. Talk to her. If she refuses to listen to you tell her you're going to kill yourself. Tell her, you're tired of her being busy and not letting you do anything. And instead of her making you safe, she's just messing with your inner self. Tell her if you can't go out with friends can they at least go to your house when she's there? |
