What is the ideal first Motorcycle for someone my size? I am 6'1", 225lbs.? |
I have never ridden a Motorcycle before, and as I should, I am taking a BRC to learn the ropes to riding a motorcycle. I have driven mopeds before, so I do kind of know what to expect as far as riding goes. I want to get a bike, so have have been looking around and I recently sat on the HD Sportster, which would be a great first bike, except for the fact that I felt very cramped and oversized for the bike. I have looked at the HD Street Bob or Fat Boy as a first, but my concerns are cost and size. I don't want to buy a bike that is inexpensive, but too small for me that I will outgrow quickly, but I also don't want to spend a lot on one that is the right size either. I have only looked at Harley's because I like the image it protrays, and I also like the look of the Street Bob and Fat Boy, but is there something else out there (other Harley's or non-Harley's) that may be similar in size accomodation for me, but less expensive and as just as nice looking to consider? Pls Hlp V-Star 650 would probably satisfy for the first few months or so but as you get your "sea-legs" your eyes will start wondering back to the Fatboy or Softail. Unless you get a great price on a used V-Star, might as well forego the buy-n-sell hassles and fork up the extra bucks for a nice HD. Source(s): New V-Star 1100 and already wondering why I didn't get a Softail Heritage Classic Try looking at Honda's. With your size, I would stick to something at least 750cc or up. They make some nice bikes, at a reasonable price. honda 1300 check out the Dyna Glide by HD. You might be impressed! get a heritage or even better....a road king. the road king would handle better than the fatty. its best to get the bike that fits like a glove from day 1....cheaper in the long run. u could get a victory tourer if a road king is too much money. One of the Dyna models should fit you. They are also customizable for the best fit. If you want to spend less money for the first bike, there are very good offerings from Honda and Yamaha(Star). |
