Should I move to Des Moines, Iowa? |
It would be for a company I have been with for over 5 years, so I'm too worried about the job market. My big concern is that there would be NOTHING to do there! I like to stay active so I do a lot of hiking, rock climbing and ride the bike trails. I also like frisbee golf, outdoor concerts, street fairs (not carnivals!), just about anything outdoors. I've done a bit of research so I have a general understanding of the climate and demographic. So, I am also wondering about the people. I won't know anyone there so I was wondering if the people are friendly. Also, would it be hard for someone in their mid- twenties to meet good people. I'm pretty low-key but not opposed to going out, I usually just offer to be the designated driver. I hope this is enough info for someone who knows the area to give me some feedback. I'm pretty happy where I am now but I am still considering the offer. I know I have a lot of questions, any serious responses will be appreciated. Thanks! As a young person, I did not enjoy it there at all. As a business person, looking to raise a family, or to retire, I would highly reccomend it. It is booming in a Mid-western sort of way. There was an article in last months newspaper here with this same information here which has only fluctuated a little since that year: http://www.forbes.com/2003/05/07/bestlan... http://www.newsobserver.com/104/story/56... Good luck! Des Moines is nice, my dad lives 80 miles south of it. Lots to do there. |
